GOA Texas: Fighting for Your Second Amendment Rights in the 89th Legislative Session
The 89th Texas Legislative Session is well underway, and Gun Owners of America (GOA) is on the front lines in Austin, working tirelessly to protect and advance gun rights for all Texans. With nearly 200 bills related to firearms and the Second Amendment being tracked, GOA Texas is committed to stopping unconstitutional infringements and pushing for pro-gun reforms.
GOA’s 2025 Legislative Priorities
This session, GOA has filed 16 priority bills, each designed to ensure that Texans remain safeguarded from legal attacks that threaten their right to keep and bear arms. Our mission is clear: stop bad actors from using lawfare to strip away your constitutional rights.
🔹 Banning Red Flag Gun Confiscation – (HB 162, Rep. Briscoe Cain) GOA is working to ensure that unconstitutional Red Flag laws – which allow gun confiscation without due process – are permanently banned in Texas.
🔹 Prohibiting Gun-Free Zones on Public Property – (SB 1065, Sen. Bob Hall; HB 1715, Rep. Briscoe Cain)
GOA is fighting to eliminate gun-free zones, ensuring law-abiding Texans can exercise their right to self-defense on public property.
🔹 Protecting Justified Defenders from Unjust Civil Liability – (HB 170, Rep. Ryan Guillen; SB 1730, Sen. Bob Hall)
This bill prevents wrongfully sued gun owners from facing civil liability when using justified self-defense.
Tracking the Fight for Your Rights
GOA Texas is actively monitoring legislative hearings, engaging lawmakers, and mobilizing grassroots activists to ensure pro-gun bills pass while fighting against anti-gun legislation.
